Louise Draper-Stevenson
WELLBEING PRACTITIONER
I was born in 1953. I live in York Western Australia. I was a member of the first group of Whole Woman graduates in 2012. I am also a certified Level 2 Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Practitioner.
I trained and worked for many years as a Volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor with NMAA, now Australian Breastfeeding Association. My experiences during this time cemented my belief in the perfection of the female body, designed exquisitely around the functions of reproduction and nursing babies.
My EFT training has taught me about the relationship between physical and emotional pain, and our beliefs about ourselves, on our posture, and our prolapses.
I have benefitted from Whole Woman work, EFT, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Buteyko Breathing Method and Meditation. I am not qualified to teach any of these modalities, but they all have a part to play for me. I have found that self-management of pelvic organ prolapse truly does involve the whole woman.
My pelvic organ prolapse (POP) was formally diagnosed a few years after the birth of my third and last baby in 1987. About 17 years later, after worsening of symptoms, a gynaecologist offered hysterectomy and anterior and posterior repairs. I found Christine Kent’s work prior to this gynaecology appointment, and my symptoms had already begun to ease during the week before the appointment. I declined his offer of surgery, and he warned me that my symptoms would worsen and need more complicated surgery later. The symptoms didn’t worsen.
2025 and I am now 16 years post-menopause. My POP symptoms have continually improved over the intervening years. They are now minor and occasional, and surgery is totally off the agenda. I have regained my faith back in my body.
I spent many years contributing to the old Whole Woman Forums as a Moderator. I believe that women are quite capable of understanding how their own body works, and of making their own sound decisions on how to manage their own health, with the assistance of their team of health professionals.
I specialize in providing you with a personal plan to reduce your prolapse symptoms and to improve your overall health and wellbeing. I prefer to work via Zoom, but can only work without video in the short term (bandwidth problems). I look forward to working with you towards less POP and a more active future.
